About Tony ...
SA bandsman since commissioned a Senior Bandsman by Major Badley in May 1952
Joined Boscombe Band 1983 - immediately christened TC by BM Geoff Otter
Previous Corps Pokesdown (Home Corps) and Poole
A life long SA Bandsman, never a "star" but I hope a willing and adaptable member of the all bands that I have served. Tony was also a Founder member of Portchester School band under the influence of Ken Cook, Tom Ponsford & L. Caisley.
Among the highlights of my banding has been the thrill of three tours with Boscombe band, all on Solo Horn, to Sweden and Florida with BM Otter and America/Minneapolis/Canada with BM Garry Lawrence and the privilege to play at the Royal Albert Hall BM's Councils on three occasions
  • under BM Tom Attiwell (Poole) on 1st Baritone sharing the stage with the Staff, Birmingham, and the Hollywood Tabernacle bands - listening and talking to Frank Moulton, their superb horn player, just days before the car accident in which he and another bandsman lost their lives and another bandsman was seriously injured.
  • under BM Alwyn Green (Poole), then principal bass trombone of the BSO. Having practised the Bass Trom part I had, because of circumstances beyond our control, to move to Solo Horn just 10 days before the event! Happy days.
  • under BM Otter I was back on 1st Baritone fighting the very exposed parts of The Holy War.
Now currently enjoying the peace and relative calm of the 1st Horn bench and, when band engagements permit, visiting our home in France with my wife Christine and our daughter Emma.
