About Tommy ...

Tommy was commisioned as a bandsman in 1942 at Hamilton Temple Corps (age 14). He left there to join the band of the buffs in 1944 and played briefly with Canterbury Band.

He first played with Hendon Band in 1945 and was with them until March 1994 (apart from one or two visits abroad with the buffs band). From 1951 to 1954 Tommy was Band Sergeant of the Buffs and then he transferred to HM Welsh Guards Band which he remained in until 1971. After leaving the Guards, Tommy was a brass teacher at Oundle Public School until March 1973 when he started work in the wages office of a building construction company until retirement in 1992 at the age of 65.

In March 1994 Tommy moved to Bournemouth and transferred from Hendon Band to Boscombe Band - ad infinitum...
