Keith Varley

It was with sadness that we heard of the Promotion to Glory this week of Keith Varley - and our prayers go out to Kath and the family at this time. Although his illness had prevented him from taking an active part over the last few months, Keith was still very much a part of our Band right up until this week.

Band Notes - May 2016

As Bournemouth is one of the holiday hotspots of the UK, the Band find many opportunities every year to minister to a large number of people who may rarely hear the message of the Gospel. Whether it is from the Bandstand in Pinewalk on a Friday evening, or in Bournemouth Lower Gardens on a Sunday morning, our annual summer concert in the Christchurch Priory, or one of our outdoor "Songs of Praise" events we are very aware that we can never know who is listening and who really needs to hear our message just at that moment.

Band Notes - April 2016

The April update is a brief one - having had a very busy end to March, this month was almost a holiday!  Apart from our regular support of worship at Boscombe Salvation Army, the Band's only engagement was on the cliff top providing the music for a ceremony to mark the Queen's 90th Birthday.

HM Queen's 90th Birthday Beacon Ceremony

This evening the Band were privileged to take part (at the invite of the town council) in the civic ceremony at Fisherman's Walk to mark the Queen's 90th Birthday.  The band played a selection of appropriate music - including, of course, Under Two Flags - either side of a short address by the Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor John Huw Adams, JP.
