Remembrance Sunday 2010
Its the end of a busy day in a busy month for the Band. On Remembrance Sunday morning the Band, each year, has the privilege of marching the veterans to the cenotaph before playing music before, during and after the service there. Today we got a bit wet but, as one of the bandsmen was overheard to say, it was a minor inconvenience compared to what the members of our armed forces have given for us over the years. There are some photos from the cenotaph on our gallery pages.
This evening the corps held its annual "Night to Remember" - this year focussing on the Battle of Britain and with the proceeds going to the Royal Air Force Association. All of the corps sections took part - as always we, as a band, took an extra interest in the Young People's Band item - this year it was 632½ Squadron. Well done Malcolm and the YP Band.

Concert at Lymington
The band had the pleasure of playing to a packed United Reformed Church in Lymington tonight. As always the programme was just a little bit different from our last one (at Winchester) - but again each item was warmly appreciated by the audience. The band had previously visited the church as part of their fund raising to modernise the building. It was good to be invited back to see the fruits of everyone's labours.
There are already some photos of the evening on our gallery pages and our new Corps' Community Work Manager, Susie Beirne, has written a few words describing her first ever Salvation Army Band Concert.

Visit to Winchester
Last night, September 25th, the Band visited Winchester to give a concert in the United Church. The programme was well received by a very appreciative crowd. For many the highlights were Barney Lawrence's performance of Demelza, and the arrangement, Coming Home!, by Ken Downie who is the bandmaster at Winchester.
The band welcomed three new members who were taking part with us for the first time having recently transferred to Boscombe - Lt. Col. David Phillips, who has come from Hadleigh, Nicola Oakden, who has come from Risca and Matt Worthington who has arrived from Blackpool.
There are some photos of the evening on our gallery pages and see what Ken Downie himself had to say in this Salvationist report.

Concert with Zoe Hancock
Last Friday, June 25th, we were delighted to raise nearly £6000 for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust at our charity concert. Our soloist, Zoe Hancock, was a huge hit with the audience - her beautiful rendition of Share My Yoke was particularly appreciated. It was particularly good, and appropriate, that we were able to include our Young People's Band in this concert - their item at the start of the second half was so good that we just had to have an encore.
There are some photos of the evening on our gallery pages and you can also view the full programme.
